As the aging process takes hold, facial expression lines begin to form, causing a person to look tired and worn out. A solution for numerous men and women, Botox ® can be used to temporarily address these dynamic facial lines and shape the eyebrow area. Dr. Eisemann administers this treatment for cosmetic purposes, and recommends Botox, an acetylcholine transmitter, for those who want to improve wrinkles along the forehead and lines around the eyes ("crow's feet"). Typically, the results from this treatment last up to four months, with additional sessions as needed in order to maintain results.

Dr. Eisemann also offers Dysport ®, which is similar to Botox. This injectable also targets dynamic wrinkles and facial lines. One of the latest advancements, Dysport is produced by Medicis, Botox, on the other hand, is distributed by Allergan. Both injectables contain botulinium type A toxin, which is used to reduce the activity of overactive muscles that cause the appearance of wrinkles.

The difference between Botox and Dysport is that each one has a different dosing; every one unit of Botox is equivalent to two and a half units of Dysport. Despite the difference in dosage, these injections work similarly. Dr. Eisemann typically lets the patient choose between Botox and Dysport.

Facial Fillers

In addition to the neurotransmitters, such as Botox and Dysport, Dr. Eisemann also offers an array of facial filler treatments, such as Evolence ®, Restylane ®, Perlane ®, and Radiesse ®. These are designed for several purposes, such as for filling in wrinkles and lip augmentation.

Evolence is a dermal filler that replaces lost collagen. This simple injection will help to improve the appearance of unwanted facial wrinkles and folds, while restoring the structure and facial contour of areas lacking in volume. Evolence results last up to 12 months.

Perlane and Restylane both contain hylaronic acid, which adds volume to help diminish and fill in facial wrinkles. Perlane contains more hylaronic acid, which means it works better in filling in deep lines, while Restylane is recommended for those with fine lines and thin skin. Both of these fillers can last between four months to a year.

Radiesse addresses wrinkles and restores facial volume. This wrinkle filler works by stimulating the production of new collagen that increases volume, smoothing out the signs of aging. Most patients experience Radiesse results for up to one year.

Dr. Eisemann also offers Artefill ®, which is considered a permanent injectable treatment and a microsphere-enhancing collagen filler. Like other facial fillers, Artefill adds volume to restore wrinkles and fill in nasolabial folds. This is the only filler that requires an allergy skin test prior to treatment.
