Houston Brow Lift
Your eyebrows tell a thousand words about your age and your life. With age creases may deepen, your eyes may become hooded with extra skin, and your eyebrows may begin to droop, making you look older, tired, and/or sad with frown lines. A brow lift procedure corrects these unwanted signs of aging by removing excess tissue, redraping the skin smoothly over the forehead, and lifting the upper eyelids to minimize frown lines and forehead creases. At the Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center in Houston, brow lifts are one of the most common procedures performed by “triple” board certified surgeon, Dr. Michael Eisemann. A popular correction performed on both men and women, brow lifts slow the coming signs of age while also offering relief to patients with drooping eyebrows or furrows just above the nose.
When extensive facial rejuvenation is required, Dr. Eisemann usually performs more traditional brow lifts, which require an incision across the scalp behind the hairline (coronal browlift). Once he has made the incision, Dr. Eisemann carefully removes the excess tissue from the forehead region, before redraping the skin and closing the delicate incision(s). When less correction is needed, typically on younger patients, brow lifts are sometimes achieved through minimally-invasive Endoscopic surgical procedures which requires even less recovery time. These smaller brow lift incisions in the scalp also remain hidden from view behind the hairline, leaving a more relaxed and refreshed appearance to the face of the patient. After an initial consultation, Dr. Eisemann can recommend to his Houston brow lift patients whether a traditional brow lift or an endoscopic brow lift would best achieve the desired results.
Brow lifts typically take one to two hours and are generally performed under I.V. sedation at The Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center. Brow lifts are an outpatient procedure, allowing patients to return home within the same day. Most patients return to work within a week to ten days after a brow lift.
Directly following a brow lift surgery, Dr. Eisemann asks patients to apply cold compresses and keep their head elevated to keep post-operative swelling and bruising to a minimum. On the seventh day following a brow lift, sutures are usually removed. Patients usually see swelling subside within a week. A little bruising may persist for another week, but make-up can easily hide this.
A substantial and natural looking result from brow lift will be apparent after about fourteen days. Patients continue to improve with their new youthful look as recovery progresses and scars heal. The once perpetually tired face will be rejuvenated with less wrinkles, creases and frown lines. Sun exposure (even with sunscreen) should be limited for several months. The effects of a brow lift endure for five to 10 years, sometimes even longer.
