Houston Plastic Surgery Consultation: What Should I Ask?
Just making the decision to have aesthetic plastic surgery such as breast augmentation and/or breast lift surgery is a major decision that should not be taken lightly. At The Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center we urge our prospective patients to do their homework and research before making a commitment to have a procedure. Our blog has posted numerous articles on the board certification process and credentials that a plastic surgeon should possess, but today’s topic will focus on how to get the most out of your consultation(s). A good plastic surgeon will have an extensive library of educational information to offer the patient about the procedure he/she seeks and be able to answer questions about pre-operative planning, the actual operation, and post-operative care and follow-up. Next, the surgeon should be able to offer the patient a substantial library of before & after photos of their actual patients. For purposes of patient confidentiality and respect, identifying information and the patient name will be kept private. If the patient is seeking breast augmentation surgery, then the plastic surgeon’s office should offer a sampling of actual implants used so the patient can see what the breast implants are like. Sizers for patients to “try on” a new breast size are also excellent perks for patients. Finally, be sure to ask your plastic surgeon or the practice’s patient representative if the quoted feel includes not only the surgeon’s fee and implant fee, but also fees for the anesthesiologist, operating room (or office surgical suite) fee, and post-operative follow-up visits with your plastic surgeon. The Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center wants to earn your respect as a patient, and to do that we encourage our prospective patients to educate themselves as well as gather more than one consult opinion. Plastic surgery, whether it is for a facelift, liposuction, or breast augmentation is a life altering decision, and we want you to be well informed to make the best decision possible.
