What Is a Body Lift?

A body lift is a comprehensive surgical procedure that uses a combination of advanced techniques to contour multiple areas of the body. Most of our Houston patients undergo a body lift after experiencing significant weight loss, but it’s also commonly performed after pregnancy or due to age-related skin changes. Every patient’s body lift is different, and your customized surgical plan may include any of the following procedures:

Depending on your needs, you may opt to include augmentations, such as breast, buttock, or calf implants, as part of your body lift.

Pricing Your Procedure

The cost of a body lift in Houston typically ranges from $7,000 - $10,000, depending on the following factors:

  • The combination of procedures performed
  • Surgical complexity
  • Whether the body lift is done in a single session or with a staged approach

After your initial consultation, our team will provide you with a clear cost estimate and financing options to ensure you’re fully informed.

What to Expect From Your Body Lift in Houston

Because body lifts are highly customizable procedures, no two experiences will be the same. In general, you can expect to be at our QUAD A-certified surgical center for multiple hours on surgery day, and you’ll have a private recovery room to rest in before a trusted family member, friend, or partner brings you home. Your procedure will be done under our signature IV sedation and nerve block method, preventing pain and discomfort during and after surgery.

During your procedure, Dr. Eisemann will make strategic incisions along the body's natural curves to access your tissue and minimize scarring. Depending on your surgical plan, he’ll then remove excess skin and fat to sculpt your body, closing all incisions with small sutures.

Patient-Centered, Gentle Recovery

Recovery after a body lift typically involves swelling, soreness, and tightness in your treatment areas, which should subside within two weeks. Most patients return to light activity, including desk work, gentle movement, and social gatherings, within one to three weeks, depending on the extent of their surgery.

You’ll need to wear supportive surgical garments, often compression sleeves and wraps, for at least one week to help reduce initial swelling and encourage your healing tissues to settle properly. Strenuous activity must be avoided for four to six weeks to allow your body to recover.

Your Personalized Post-Op Process

After your body lift in Houston, you’ll receive a customized recovery plan tailored to your exact procedures. This plan may include the following items:

  • Incision site care and cleaning protocols
  • Supportive garment guidance, if applicable
  • Activity limitations
  • Hygiene recommendations
  • Sun protection and exposure requirements
  • Recovery clothing options
  • Swelling and pain management protocols
  • Sleep position restrictions

Following your surgery, you’ll return to our Houston office several times over the coming weeks for check-ins with Dr. Eisemann. There, he’ll remove any remaining sutures, monitor your healing progress, and clear you to resume high-impact activities, such as contact sports, swimming, and intense exercise.

Types of Body Lifts

Though all body lifts are customized to the patient, they generally fall into one of the following three categories:

    Lower Body Lift

Also called a belt lipectomy, this procedure addresses excess tissue around the abdomen, hips, outer thighs, and buttocks through a single incision.

    Upper Body Lift

This procedure focuses on the back and bra line areas to smooth upper body contours and can include an arm lift or a breast lift.

    Total Body Lift

Most patients seek a total body lift, which combines upper and lower body techniques to achieve a full-body lift.

    Completing Your Transformation

Because a body lift offers comprehensive benefits from chest to calves, many of our Houston patients take this as an opportunity to undergo facial rejuvenation as well.

    Complementary procedures include the following:

    • Brow lift
    • Rhinoplasty
    • Facial fat grafting
    • Non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments

During your consultation, Dr. Eisemann will advise you on which procedures are safe to combine and which would benefit more from a phased approach.

    Body Lift Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a body lift and a tummy tuck?

A tummy tuck focuses specifically on the abdominal area and includes muscle tightening, while a body lift targets solely excess skin and fat across multiple regions. Depending on your needs, you may include a tummy tuck with your body lift for a more comprehensive refresh.

Will I need pre-operative testing before my body lift?

Yes. We may request lab work and imaging to confirm that your body is ready for surgery. We’ll coordinate with your care team to complete all testing well before your surgery day.

How long will I need to take off work for a body lift?

Most patients return to desk-based, stationary work within two weeks, depending on their body’s healing timeline. Patients with physically-demanding, labor-intensive careers may need six to eight weeks off work to fully recover.

Will I need drains after surgery?

Some patients require drains to prevent fluid buildup as they heal. Dr. Eisemann will discuss your options during your consultation. If he confirms that drains are necessary for you, drain care and cleaning protocols will be included in your recovery plan.
