Are You a Candidate for Teen Rhinoplasty Surgery?
As mentioned before, there is an age limit for this procedure. Teen rhinoplasty should be performed only after a patient's nose has stopped growing. This is because it is not safe to perform such surgery on underdeveloped noses, as it can affect their natural growth.
With any rhinoplasty procedure, the goal is to help the patient achieve a nose that is proportionate to the rest of their face. Of equal importance is achieving a nose shape that looks natural, without any obvious signs of surgery. Dr. Eisemann prides himself on achieving remarkable results that look natural and match his patients’ overall aesthetic.
What Is the Procedure Like?
Just as in primary rhinoplasty, teen rhinoplasty can be performed using a closed or open technique. With a closed technique, all incisions are made inside the nose, leaving any scars hidden from sight. With an open technique, the incision is made on the columella (the small area of flesh between the nostrils). This usually leaves a scar, but it is nearly invisible.
These incisions serve as entry points through which Dr. Eisemann can reshape bone and cartilage, enabling a total resculpting of the nose. This process usually involves moving the nasal bones to narrow or straighten the nose. In some cases, cartilage and bone may need to be taken from other parts of the body to build up a specific part of the nose. Once all changes have been made, the skin is laid over the nose again. Sutures are used to close the incisions.
The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and can take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours to complete.
