What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian butt lift, also known as a BBL, is a surgical procedure that uses fat cells harvested from elsewhere on your body to gently increase the size and projection of the buttocks. We focus on balance when adding volume to the buttocks, creating a rounder, fuller shape that does not overwhelm your silhouette.

Because the procedure uses fat from your body, it has the dual effect of refining the curves around your waist and enhancing your final results. Most patients harvest fat from the following areas for their Brazilian butt lift:

  • Thighs
  • Hips and love handles
  • Back
  • Abdomen

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Ideal candidates for a Brazilian butt lift in Houston are healthy, non-smoking adults who fit the following criteria:

  • Are at or near a stable weight
  • Have enough excess fat on your intended donor areas for liposuction
  • Wish to enhance the size, shape, or projection of your buttocks with subtle, natural-looking changes
  • Have realistic expectations for the procedure

During your initial consultation, Dr. Eisemann will complete a short physical exam to confirm your candidacy. If you do not have enough donor fat but still wish for a butt enhancement, he may recommend an implant-based augmentation.

A Private Consultation

Every patient’s journey begins with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Eisemann at our Houston office. There, you’ll discuss your aesthetic goals, concerns, and medical history, and he’ll examine your anatomy, skin quality, and fat distribution along your buttocks and intended donor sites. Based on his findings, Dr. Eisemann will determine if a Brazilian butt lift is right for you and begin building your customized surgical plan.

Pricing Your Procedure

The cost of you butt lift in Houston will depend on the following factors:

  • Number of donor areas treated with liposuction
  • Amount of fat transferred
  • Surgical complexity
  • Whether additional procedures will be performed in the same session

After your initial consultation, our team will share a detailed cost breakdown and financing options for full transparency.

What to Expect From Your Brazilian Butt Lift in Houston

Your procedure will be performed at our QUAD A-certified Houston surgical center under IV sedation for your comfort. To begin your procedure, Dr. Eisemann will perform liposuction on your donor area using a small cannula to remove fat cells. These cells will be purified in a sterile environment to separate out the healthiest cells for reinjection into the body.

Next, Dr. Eisemann will carefully inject the fat cells into your buttocks, working conservatively to gradually increase volume without creating an overdone result. Depending on your aesthetic goals, this may include injections on the top, bottom, or sides of the buttocks. All liposuction incisions will be closed with small sutures, and your injection sites will be carefully bandaged to prevent irritation.

Patient-Centered Recovery

Recovery after a Brazilian butt lift in Houston requires extreme patience, as you will not be able to sit directly on your buttocks for several weeks. Most patients experience swelling, tenderness, and light bruising after their surgery, but this should resolve within one week.

The goal of recovery is to allow maximum blood flow to the buttocks, helping as many transferred cells as possible survive and integrate into your tissues. You’ll need to use a specialized pillow to reduce pressure on your backside and avoid strenuous activity for up to 8 weeks as you heal.

Your Post-Op Process

After your procedure, our team will share a customized recovery plan tailored to your body’s needs. This plan may include the following items:

  • Injection and incision site care and cleaning protocols
  • Supportive pillow guidance
  • Hygiene recommendations
  • Sleep position restrictions
  • Activity limitations
  • Recovery clothing options
  • Swelling and pain management strategies

Over the coming weeks, you’ll return to our Houston office several times for follow-up appointments with our team. There, we’ll remove any remaining sutures, examine the health of your transferred cells, and approve you for proper sitting and physical activity once you’ve passed key recovery milestones.

Types of Butt Lifts

At Eisemann Plastic Surgery Center, we’re proud to offer multiple types of buttock enhancement to help you bring your vision for yourself to life without compromising your medical preferences. Depending on your needs, your butt lift may use either of the following techniques:

Fat Transfer

This process is used in Brazilian butt lifts, in which fat is harvested from other areas of the body for reinjection into the buttocks.

Implant-Based Augmentation

Here, we use silicone implants to enhance the size, volume, shape, and projection of the buttocks when the patient lacks sufficient donor fat.

We may use a hybrid approach if your desired shape cannot be achieved solely with fat transfer or implant augmentation.

Completing Your Transformation

Because BBL recovery requires significant rest, many patients see it as an opportunity to undergo additional procedures and achieve a more comprehensive rejuvenation.

Complementary treatments include the following:

  • Arm lift
  • Abdominoplasty
  • Body lift

Dr. Eisemann will advise you on which procedures are safe to combine and which would benefit more from a staged approach.

Brazilian Butt Lift Frequently Asked Questions

When will I see my final results?

The final results of your Brazilian butt lift in Houston will reveal themselves once residual swelling has faded and the transferred cells have settled into their new position, which may take several weeks. Most patients see their final results within three to six months of their procedure.

How soon after my BBL can I exercise?

Most patients return to their workout routines, including both gentle and intense movement, within two months. Dr. Eisemann will confirm when it is safe to resume your exercise plan during your follow-up appointments.

Will I need to change my sleeping positions or arrangements during recovery?

Yes. Patients must sleep on their stomach or side during recovery to avoid placing excess pressure on the buttocks. We may recommend supportive pillows to help you adjust to this change.
