Advances In Houston Liposuction
Liposuction is a common plastic surgery technique used to remove excess fat, and the procedure originated in France during the 1970’s. In the early days, liposuction was limited to removing fat primarily from the hips and thighs, but with modern advancements in liposuction, it is common to remove pockets of fat from under the chin, in the neck, around the jowls, upper arms, knees, and even ankles. Instead of just removing fat, plastic surgeons can sculpt the body’s contours. Tumescent liposuction (or liposculpture) permits plastic surgeons to do more with less bruising. During tumescent liposuction, the plastic surgeon injects a solution into the area to be sculpted, which causes the fat to tumesce. In addition to causing the fat tissue to swell up, the solution also contains elements that act as a numbing agent and to shrink blood vessels. This means the patient will experience less bleeding and bruising following surgery. The tumescent fluid also firms the fatty tissue, which makes it much easier to sculpt the body.
