What type of breast implants are right for me?
All breast implants have a silicone outer shell, and are filled with either silicone or saline. The shape of a breast implant can be either round or anatomically tear-drop shaped, and the outer shell can be either smooth or textured. The implants range in width, height, projection, fill, and level of silicone cohesiveness. The highly cohesive implants are often referred to as “gummy bear” implants. Our breast augmentation surgeons will discuss each type of implant with you so you can make an educated decision about how to proceed. Because all implants have benefits and drawbacks, it is very important have a surgeon who is educated in determining how to best help you figure out what implants will best fit your goals.
Silicone implants
These are the implants most commonly chosen by women, as the weight, bounce, and softness most closely mimics natural breast tissue. There is usually less risk of rippling.
Saline implants
Saline implants have the advantage of being filled after placement. Our surgeons can perform this procedure by placing the implants through the under-surface of the breast or through an incision in the armpit, leaving no visible scars on the chest or breast.
Gummy bear implants
These silicone implants are teardrop-shaped rather than round to create a very natural-looking enhancement.
