Body Lift Basics
The body lift is a procedure designed to remove fat deposits and excess skin from the patient’s hips, buttocks, and abdominal region. This procedure may restore the patient’s body to its prior appearance, or in some instances, the procedure creates a contoured body for the first time. Pregnancy and childbirth can significantly change the appearance of a female patient’s abdominal area, and of course gravity and aging skin takes its toll on all of us. A lower body lift may treat the abdomen, waist, hips, and buttocks. Your plastic surgeon will make a circumferential incision around the patient’s body to remove what is called an “apron” of excess fat and skin. Depending on the patient, liposuction may also be necessary to remove excess fat. After excess fat and skin are removed, the surgeon repositions the skin using deep, supportive sutures to create the new body contours. After surgery, the patient must wear a compression garment to assist with healing. In Houston, Dr. Michael Eisemann has performed hundreds of body lift procedures with beautiful results. Not only is Dr. Eisemann triple board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, he has over 20 years of experience performing complex plastic surgery procedures.
