Rhinoplasty And Baseball – What Gives?
When discussing rhinoplasty with Houston plastic surgeon, Michael Eisemann, M.D., one might expect to talk about reshaping the nose in context of a patient independently electing the surgery – not that one would elect the surgery because of a joke, but that is exactly what happened between major league baseball players Jon Niese and Carlos Beltran. Last season Beltran gave Niese such a hard time about the unpleasing shape of his nose that Beltran actually offered to pay for his nose job. Niese reported to spring training post rhinoplasty surgery ready to play ball claiming that not only does his nose look better, but he is also breathing better. Improving breathing capability is not part of the nose shaping surgery, but of a complimentary procedure called septoplasty.
